1. Does Firefly assist with domestic or international adoption?
While this is a noble endeavor, Firefly does not offer any direct or indirect assistance when it comes to adoption. For those families living in Russia that already provide a home for a foster or adopted child, Firefly trains Russian healthcare, educational and social services professionals to develop family support programs to ensure a healthy and productive living environment for all family members.
Unfortunately Firefly can only accommodate volunteers who are specifically educated and trained in particular healthcare, education, and social services fields. To find out more about Firefly’s volunteer requirements, please click here.
Right now Firefly only works in Russia, but hopes to expand to other countries once additional funding and resources are secured. Firefly’s expertise is geared toward helping former Soviet bloc countries modernize their child welfare systems, so these areas are top priority. However, Firefly is happy to assist other countries outside of these parameters if adequate funding can be found.
